This challenge took my body on a 10-day journey — each day releasing tension in a different area, from hamstrings to hips, feet to face. (I’ve been told I suffer from resting bitch face, so that last one intrigued me.) The teacher, Niedra Gabriel, is a redheaded dynamo whose enthusiasm practically radiates through the screen. Appropriate for all skill levels, her instructions are easy to follow, and (although I was a little skeptical at first) by the fourth day I was actually looking forward to my sessions — mostly because I was feeling a difference.

Niedra was 63 when we first met at a MovNat certification I was assisting in Carlsbad, California in March 2017. She was the oldest of the participants and eased through the moves and cert. It was impressive to see her movements but more importantly and why we become friends was her mindset, spirit and our shared interests of positive ageing, mind body connection, life-long movers and a growth mindset.

I met Niedra Gabriel online. For weeks and weeks, I benefited from her online Pilates classes. I was so nourished by her words and the movements she proposed in her classes, that I reached out to her. I hope this interview helps you think differently about the importance of movement.
